Urgent Notice of Fraudulent Scheme

This notice is to inform you that Klapec Trucking Co. has been targeted in a fraudulent scheme where individuals are posing as representatives or employees of Klapec Trucking and accepting loads from transportation brokers.  As it has been reported to Klapec Trucking, the loads are then re-brokered and the loads and goods are stolen. We have reported these fraudulent activities to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The FBI informs us that Klapec Trucking is not the only trucking company that has reported this, and that the fraudsters originate in Armenia. We are also informed by US DOT that similar scams have been directed at other trucking companies and brokers.

To date we are aware of the following fraudulent emails that have been used to impersonate Klapec Trucking:

Please be aware that Klapec Trucking does not use gmail accounts. Klapec Trucking’s only email accounts are “@klapectrucking.com”.  We have informed Google of these fraudulent activities and requested that it shut down all gmail accounts with the term “KLAPECTRUCKING.”  It is also possible that the fraudsters will switch to other email accounts.

WE ASK THAT YOU CALL DISPATCH AT 814-676-1512 TO CONFIRM ANY LOADS TO BE CARRIED BY ANY ONE IDENTIFYING AS KLAPEC TRUCKING.

It is a sorry state of affairs that the fraudulent schemes are being perpetrated against our industry. Klapec Trucking values it’s relationships with you and our many customers and is taking action to deter such activities in the future.  We will continue to work with the FBI and other law enforcement in the pursuit of justice.
